The Corinth High School in Corinth, NY was the first school to have our plastic seat modules, together with the Century Design® system, installed on their gym bleachers.
The Corinth High School Gymnasium is home to the Corinth “Tomahawks.”
Bleachers with the Century Design® system are not affected by climbing. Here the Bleacherman installation team poses onboard the newly refurbished bleachers, showing that approximately 1500 lbs of live load (not intended for occupancy) will not cause them to sag. |
OLD, SAGGING BLEACHERS ARE TRANSFORMEDThe first installation of plastic seat modules to replace wood seats, plus the addition of the Century Design® system to prevent sagging, was done in 2005. At that time, we were refurbishing 50-year-old retractable bleachers in the high school located in our hometown of Corinth, NY. While the Medart understructure was basically sound, the wood seats were battered and shopworn. Required safety equipment was outdated or missing altogether. A Complete “Make-over” of the Old Bleachers. After the understructure was cleaned and broken/damaged components were repaired, the wood seats were replaced by plastic seat modules. The manually operated bleachers were converted to full power push-button operation. We also added foot level intermediate aisles, intermediate aisle P-rails, end rails and ADA cut-outs to bring the gym bleachers up to code compliance. As a final step, the Century Design® support system was added to prevent future sagging.
What the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds has to say “Our high school gym bleachers were completely re-done in 2005, and it was like getting completely new bleachers. They still look good and work like they’re supposed to. We have had no problems with our bleachers since then.” Mr. Ted Bridges |
